Trine Møldrup Jakobsen, MD, PhD, is an ophthalmologist and senior researcher at the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital of Southern Denmark, and the Department of Regional Health Research, University of Southern Denmark.

Trine graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Southern Denmark in 2011. In 2017, she entered the field of myopia research as the principal investigator of the projects Clinical Study of Near-sightedness; Treatment with Orthokeratology Lenses (CONTROL Study) and the CONTROL2 study.

The findings of the CONTROL Study led to the implementation of myopia control at the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital of Southern Denmark, in 2021. From the outset, Trine has been a key member in establishing the Myopia Clinic and in developing referral criteria, treatment guidelines, and guidelines for discontinuation of treatment. She has also co-authored the Clinical Guideline on Myopia by the Danish Ophthalmological Society.

Trine is a co-supervisor of the PhD project Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segment Spectacle Lenses (DIMS) versus Orthokeratology Lenses (OKL) for Slowing Myopia Progression in Danish Children Aged 6–12 Years and serves as a study investigator and PhD co-supervisor for the study School Cohort on Cognition, Reading, Outdoor Practices, Eye Health and Screen Use (SCROPES).

In 2022, she was appointed Danish National Lecturer for the European Society of Ophthalmology. In 2023 and 2024, she received certificates from Acta Ophthalmologica for the top downloaded article and the top cited article, respectively, for the article Control of Myopia Using Orthokeratology Lenses in Scandinavian Children Aged 6 to 12 Years: Eighteen-Month Data from the Danish Randomized Study: Clinical Study of Near-sightedness; Treatment with Orthokeratology Lenses (CONTROL Study).

Trine has published twelve peer-reviewed articles in the field of myopia research, five as first author and six as last author.
