Beata Tapaszto is a third-generation ophthalmologist and has been heading the Contact Lens Department at Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary for over 30 years. She is a Master Instructor at the Faculty of Health Sciences and is actively involved in the education of optometry students in Hungarian and English. She also takes part in outpatient care at the university clinic.

Throughout her career, she has published several scientific articles and delivered numerous presentations at national and international conferences. Her earlier professional focus included ocular ultrasound diagnostics, oculoplastics, and dry eye disease.

For more than 20 years, she has been fitting orthokeratology lenses and has been working with soft anti-myopia contact lenses. Her clinical practice also includes contact lens rehabilitation of irregular corneas. Her current main professional focus is myopia control.

She is the Scientific President of the European Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control and Vice President of the International Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control. She actively works to expand international collaboration and professional education, regularly lecturing at European and global conferences, contributing to consensus-building and advancing clinical standards in myopia management.
