Professor Andrzej Grzybowski is the Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn and the founder of the Ophthalmology 21 Foundation. He is the author and co-author of more than 500 scientific articles (IF over 1000), a member of many medical societies, including. EVER (board member and chairman of the Cataract/Lens Section), ESCRS (curator of the ESCRS Archives), European Academy of Ophthalmology (EAR) (board member and treasurer), AAO (member of the Global ONE Advisory Board, Task Force for Myopia Control and Museum of Vision) and ISRS (member of the International Council). He is also founder and chairman of the Polish Presbyopia Club. He was ranked as one of the 2% most outstanding scientists in the world by Stanford University’s 2019 ranking and according to Expertscape’s ranking: he has the No. 1 position in the world in the field of cataract and cataract surgery. In 2021, he received the International Society of Refractive Surgery Founders’ Award and published the book “Artificial Intelligence in Ophthalmology” (Springer). In 2022, he was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta by the President of the Republic of Poland for outstanding achievements in scientific and teaching work and fostering international scientific cooperation, and was included in The Ophthalmologist magazine’s “The Power List,” a ranking of the 100 most influential people in the world of ophthalmology.
