Hakan Kaymak

Prof. Kaymak is a board-certified ophthalmologist & eye surgeon. He is head surgeon for the field of retina, macula and vitreous body at Breyer, Kaymak & Klabe Eye Surgery – one of the largest private ophthalmology practices in Germany.

He studied medicine at University of Tübingen and Heidelberg, then specialized as Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmologic Surgeon.

Since 2017 he is head of the Macula and Retina Department of Breyer, Kaymak & Klabe in Düsseldorf, where he started in 2010 as partner and senior consultant ophthalmologist. Asides to his expertise in retinal diseases such as nAMD, he is also one of the leading experts for eye therapies including laser treatment, minimally invasive surgeries, and innovative therapies.

His personal interest lays in the field of myopia therapy. He already wrote his dissertation in 1999 on the effect of atropine on visual induced myopia in chicks and, starting in 2016, he was one of the first ophthalmologist in Germany to apply low-dose atropine therapy. Since late 2020 his new first-line choice for myopia therapy are the MiYOSMART lenses.
